What are High Brightness IPS Displays?
They are the TFT LCDs – base “building blocks” behind many Riverdi display series. This category does not include an MCU, graphics controller or application logic. If you choose High Brightness IPS Displays, you handle the integration yourself and connect the panel to an external processor or display controller. That is the series’ key differentiator from Riverdi’s STM32, EVE, HDMI, USB-C, and Toradex modules, which add processing, a controller board or plug-and-play interface on top of the High Brightness TFT panel.
High Brightness LCD gives you the display layer only with the widest choice of sizes, luminance levels, and video interfaces. Brightness starts at 800 cd/m2 in most full-size variants and reaches 1,400 cd/m2 in selected 3,5” models. Higher values are possible in customized solutions.

Advantages of High Brightness IPS Displays
These products use IPS TFT LCD technology for full viewing angles and stable color perception. The portfolio of standard off-the-shelf products includes more than 75 variants: from 1.54” compact modules to 15.6” Full HD panels.
Available resolutions start from 240×240, 320×480, 480×272, 800×480, 1024×600, up to 1280×800 in 10.1” and 12.1” models, or 1920×1080 in 15.6”. Interfaces depend on the size and variant: SPI for the smallest formats, RGB for compact and mid-size panels, LVDS and MIPI DSI for larger displays, and dual LVDS for 15.6” Full HD.
Touch can be industrial PCAP or removed completely. You can also choose optical or air bonding, frame or frameless mechanics, and uxTouch or aTouch. uxTouch mounts on top of the enclosure for a flat front surface in new designs. aTouch is useful for upgrading existing hardware, because it fits classic cutouts from the inside.
The most important feature of this category is optical bonding technology, made in-house at Riverdi manufacturing plant in Poland. Optical bonding removes the air gap between the LCD and touch panel. This reduces internal reflections and improves contrast in strong ambient light (like outdoor sunlight or factory floor).

The category operating temperature ranges from -20°C to +70°C. The 10.1” models also come with a zero bad pixels guarantee. Low EMI design helps when the display is placed near sensitive electronics.


Where to use High Brightness IPS Displays
Choose HB IPS when visibility is the key and you already have control over the processing platform on your device.
Outdoor and marine devices often use 7” to 12.1” displays with 1,000 cd/m2 brightness or more. Industrial HMI panels rely on 7” to 12.1” PCAP variants, often with optical bonding for demanding factory environments. EV chargers and outdoor kiosks usually integrate 10.1” displays with high brightness and touch. 7.0” up to 12.1” monitors with high resolution and pixel-perfect quality are a good fit for medical and diagnostic instruments. Digital signage and information panels can use 10.1”, 12.1” or the option providing Full HD resolution over dual LVDS in 15.6’ modules.
Smaller sizes have a specific role. The 1.54” SPI display works for smart meter readouts, compact devices, and simple status screens. The 3.5” variants reaching 1,200-1,400 cd/m2 are suitable for instruments used in direct sunlight or professional food processing and kitchen equipment.
