TFT LCD touch screen displays
Riverdi touchscreen displays are capacitive TFTs: TFT LCD modules with PCAP touch, touch overlay and controller prepared for industrial use. The category covers modules designed for industrial interfaces, not consumer-style touch conditions.

What are touchscreen displays?
A touchscreen display adds an input layer to the TFT LCD, so the front glass becomes part of the control system. In Riverdi modules this is a projected capacitive touch configured for industrial stacks, not for thin consumer glass. For projects where pressure-based detection is safer, resistive touch is available through customization.
The controller reads changes in the electric field through the cover glass and reports positions through USB or I²C. Riverdi uses the ILITEK ILI2132A (or other ILITEK industrial-grade touch controller) touch sensor IC, with 10-year availability.
More about touch sensor selection is covered in Key criteria for choosing the right touch sensor IC and part 2.
Cover glass protects the LCD, but it also changes the touch signal. Proper factory tuning compensates for this at the production stage – adjusting sensitivity, noise filtering and false-touch rejection – so the effect is barely noticeable in use.

It can be tuned for the real front stack: cover glass from 1.1 mm to 15 mm, double gloves, nitrile gloves, water on the surface and EMC/RS/CS performance. The standard PCAP configuration supports multi-touch up to 5 fingers.
Tomasz Soldat, Riverdi CTO, sums it up: “A consumer touchscreen only has to work with clean fingers and thin glass. In an industrial device, PCAP has to be tuned to the actual use case, environment and EMC conditions.”
Benefits of touchscreen displays
Industrial PCAP gives the enclosure designer a flat front surface. It removes mechanical buttons, reduces dirt traps and makes the device easier to seal or clean. It also simplifies projects where one hardware platform needs several GUI variants instead of separate keypads.
Riverdi touchscreen displays are available with uxTouch or aTouch mounting. uxTouch fits new designs with front-mounted glass beyond the LCD. aTouch fits projects installed from the inside, matching LCD outline and cutouts.

Applications of touchscreen displays
Industrial HMI panels use 7″ to 12.1″ touchscreen displays, stable despite electrical noise and repeated operation. Medical and lab devices use 10.1″ to 15.6″ TFT LCD touchscreen modules where touch must remain usable with wet fingers, disinfectants and frequently cleaned glass.
Operating outdoors or in EV charging stations requires a PCAP touch layer capable of water rejection and reliable performance through temperature swings or behind thick cover glass.
A flat, gapless, sealed front design that simplifies sanitization makes these touchscreens the standard choice for food processing deployments.

Riverdi touchscreen display manufacturer
Since 2012, Riverdi has designed and manufactured TFT LCD modules in Europe, with production based in Poland. For touchscreen projects, Riverdi controls the parts that decide whether touch works after integration: tuning, cover glass stack-up, bonding and mechanical fit.

The company runs optical bonding in-house, so removal of the air gap between the LCD and touch layer is controlled by the same team that integrates the module. The panels are designed with long-term component availability in mind – 10+ years.
Standard touchscreen displays are available without MOQ and can be sourced globally through DigiKey, Mouser, RS Components and TME. For non-standard requirements, Riverdi handles customized solutions. Factory tuning reduces integration risk: the same capacitive touchscreen can be adjusted for double gloves, water film, 15 mm glass or EMC noise long before the display is locked into the final enclosure.
